Evaluation modules and boards are used for several purposes. Some evaluation boards are designed to allow full RF characterization of a particular semiconductor or integrated circuit.

Another use for evaluation boards is to allow the partial or complete analysis of a communications system using the actual hardware. This allows verification of the simulation results with most of the actual hardware prior to committing to final system design saving time and cost.
